A mother whose daughter survived a horrific limo crash three years ago has accused politicians of being negligent or complacent for not introducing new laws to help prevent accidents.

Nancy DiMonte’s daughter Joelle, 25, survived a crash between a pick-up truck and a limo which killed four women in Long Island in 2015.

In the wake of Saturday’s limo crash which killed 20, DiMonte wrote a furious letter slamming legislators for not introducing more regulations regarding stretch limos.

She asked: ‘Is this complacency, negligence, bureaucracy or lack of motivation to change things?’

Ms DiMonte did not detail what regulations she would like to see.

After the 2015 crash, a special grand Toronto airport taxi jury implored Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo to examine the safety of stretch limousines – but the task force was apparently never formed.

Cuomo said Monday that sometimes people don’t follow existing laws.
